Subject: Don’t Stop Believing (Journey)

Hey hey from Athina!!!

Well everyone, here I am sitting on one
helluva nice ferry on my way to the Greek island of Santorini.
Now, as some of you may not have heard, I am currently on my spring
break from school and yes, duh, I am taking a trip with my friends to Greece.
We left yesterday morning bright and early at 6AM only to not have our flight
leave on time to Zurich with Swiss Air.  But not to worry as we still would have our 8
hours of layover time to kill!  Zurich was a lovely city all bathed in
sun when we arrived.  It was too bad that
I couldn't meet Silvio while there as he had just left early that morning as
well for Geneva!
He is now frequently working out of GenevaBasel that he only gets to go back to Zurich on weekends.  Anywho, back to my recounting of events.
and

So, instead of going out of the airport to
view the city (because that would require us to change to Swiss francs which is
a bit of a hassle), Troy, Vadim, Ryan, and myself stuck to the airport (which
had some really nice lounges, but everything is so expensive, even though the
franc is almost on par with the Canadian dollar!) to finish off some school
work.  Thus far, I have managed to
complete our Dutch oral exam stuff (writing dialogues is harder than you
think!) and now, because I have only had 1.5 hours of sleep since yesterday (we
arrived past midnight and it took about 2 hours to get to our hostel which was
confused with what dates we had booked and we ended up only staying a total of
3 hours.   I tell you, easiest 54 euros
that that hostel has ever earned I bet!)
Okay I seem to really be getting off topic here a lot and losing my
train of thought in a series of randomness-ness…

Maybe it’s a lack of sleep but I shall try
once again.  Okay, so I’m sitting here in
Athens, waiting for our ferry to leave
for Santorini.  It takes apparently close
to 9 hours to get there.  I don’t think I
will mind it all that much since this ferry is gorgeous!  It’s equivalent to a mini cruise ship!  And I’ve been on my fair share of those!  So nice and classily all done up.  Finally found the other Americans who are on
this trip with us.  Seems they didn’t
know how to get to the harbour which is really weird since they were the ones
who told us how to get to the Piraeus Port.
Ugh, my head is killing me again.
I think it’s time for a  rest.  Will get back to this when I have a chance (I
don’t guarantee that it will be the same day; I got me some sleep, work,
sightseeing, and sun tanning to do!
Sleepy time……

Wow, four hours sure goes by quickly when
you’re having a nice deep sleepy nap!
Thus far the sea is nice, not too choppy but it sure is cold
outside.  The wind is whipping up a storm
and it was quite funny to see the pictures that we had taken as soon as we had
woken up of Troy looking very displeased with the sea salt spray in his face
and Ryan looking appearing as if someone had thrown something into his
eye.  We’ve been in Athen for just over
12 hours and already our first mishap:
Troy
‘s camera is broken.  BOOO.
He is our master cameraman and we’re done for!  Okay, maybe not done for, but still, major
high quality camera out of action.  Ugh
and now my computer is beeping non-stop at me because it needs to be
recharged.  Hmm, I should probably save this
then so that nothing is lost.  Oh that
would be the last straw if it was.  That
plus the freaking cold on the boat would be most displeasing.  Oh and for some reason my finger bed hurts
when a little portion of my nail breaks off.
How weird is that?  I’m at least
glad that I packed mostly long pants for this vacation.  Ha, now watch me regret saying that as soon
as we get to the island.  Yick.

Ramblings and Such

BLACK MONDAY = APRIL 24 2006.  Why?  I have a resit test first thing in the morning, and then two presentations back to back for the same teacher!  How painful is that?  UGH.  This past weekend I also learned two things:

  1. Jagermeister is not good to knock back three in a row combined with 4 glasses of wine, one glass of Baileys, 1/2 litre of fuzzy navel plus a few beers.  I ended up throwing up two of the three shots, probably most of the sloppy joes I ate and on top of that, I was well yeah.  NOT GOOD!  Must remember not to mix bad substances together.  Gotta love my friends though for taking care of me.  The next day (i.e. Yesterday being Sunday), I still felt hungover but I thought some fresh air might do me some good.  So I followed along while my friends biked to school (I hung on the back of Megan's bike since as you all know I can't bike - yet.)  When we were almost done, my stupidity got the better of me and I jumped off while she was still going at a fair clip.  I ended up falling and cutting open my hand pretty badly as well as scraping my pretty bracelet  from London (), my pretty celtic ring, and distorting my watch a bit.  My right hand from the middle finger on is now swollen and looks really nasty.  But the thing that gets to me is that, not that it doesn't hurt, but I got this from sheer idiocy on my part.  Go me.  but hey, i'm ready to learn this Tueday and play a good scrimmage game of football in two weeks.  I'm psyched!

  2. Meaghan is an idiot for the reason prescribed above.

In other news though, i'm going to be going around the Netherlands for Easter and then two weeks after that, it's GREECE!  Also, I found out that my cousin Anita is expecting again (even though we all thought that she wouldn't be again, but woohoo!!!!).  This means that this year, on one side of the family, there will be two babies coming and a wedding!  Those are as awesome as you can get reasons for a family gathering.

So to sum it all up?  I'm as happy as a clam aside from the prospect of Black Monday coming up in 2 weeks! ARGH!

Oh and Tarryn?  hehehehehe :D

Happy Together....

Well okay maybe not together, but I'm happy nonetheless.  This past week I found out that one of my cousins is getting married!!!  She was recently engaged and she will be tying the knot in DC sometime in the next year.  I am very excited!  I am also happy because this is a lazy week at school filled with professional development days for the teachers (and no school for us!), and my friends and I are going to Paris on Thursday!!!!!!!  Woooo.  I am also learning how to bike - finally (with I'm sure many guffaws to follow), and I particpated in a jolly good pillow fight last night at my place.  I am also really happy as I have finalized my plane tickets to GREECE for Spring break.  I am so full of excitement beans that it's hard not to go around with a stupid smile on my face.

In other more educational news, which I'm sure my parents will be happy about, I got a BIG FAT 9.6 out of 10 for my Strategic Marketing Midterm (the highest mark out of the 3 classes) and I have been appointed team leader for a case presentation contest.  I am also doing well in Global View since it turns out that Mr. Wams is not such an evil person, but rather Mr. Vermeulen has taken that spot.  It's like they're playing good cop, bad cop.  Anywho, I think that is it for now..?  Oh yeah, I also finished 2 books in 4 days (Life of Pi and Da Vinci Code), got the higest marks in Intercultural Communication class, and I'M GOING TO PARIS!  Okay, that's enough of me being all happy.  I shall sign off for now.  Oh and if you're in the neighbourhood, check my sister's page and see the picture of me as a prostitute. It's a great picture : )

Ciao for now,
M-Unit

BOOGERS!

Well it has been ages since I wrote anything so here goes...!

I have thus far gone to Berlin and London (entries yet to be completely written, but they're coming!!!) in February, Ryan got sick with pneumonia (he's back but he acts like an old man), and travel plans are in full swing for Easter and Spring Break in April and May.  I will be going to Paris at the end of the month and I am hoping for warmer weather.  School sucks big time and I'm so frustrated with the lack of guidance and real teaching!  Food has been good as we have been having fmaily dinners all of last week so we're all fat and well fed.  The cheung family travel plans have been finalized and I can't wait!  "The Family" (i.e. Andrea, Ryan, Troy, Vadim, Erin, Julie, Jackie, and myself) are planning a road trip across Canada for next summer possibly spanning one month which I'm also really looking forward to.  AIESEC Ottawa and Carleton are jointly hosting ORC 2006 which makes me so proud and all of my friends across Canada are doing so well!  Dave is off to Singapore, Llorene is going on a CEED to India, Puneet is Leader of the MQB; it's all so exciting!

I'm off for some cheap Indian food right now (after my shitty class) and then it's off to study for a midterm that includes content that no one knows.  Isn't school sounding great here at this professional college?  Yick.  I wish I could just travel and chuck the whole school thing down the drain!

Over and out for now,

Mego

Further Delays

Yeah so my posting will be further delayed, sorry folks!  Yesterday evening I went with Ryan by ambulance to the hospital where he has been diagnosed with pneumonia.  I am now taking part in a six person shift and I only got back from the first one late last night (I was there for 6 hours).  He will be there for at least the next week so you probably shouldn't expect much from me right now except maybe updates on his health.

Thanks for the understanding,
Momma Meaghan (aka. Little Red Riding Hood)

P.S.: Don't worry, I'm fine, I was also checked out and I don't have pneumonia.  My cold is getting better though!

Journal Delays of 2 Weeks to Be Expected...

Hey everyone,

Sorry I've been so slow at entering a journal for my past two weeks and especially my two big trips to Berlin and London.  My friend Ryan has recently fallen very ill with the flu and I am helping him get healthy again which is taking up a lot of my time (other than school work which has finally picked up a bit) and sleep away.

In other family news though, my sister has finally found a new apartment that is nice and she has been approved!!!  She will probably be moving sometime in March.  I am so happy for her!  Go Seeta!

I also got news that there is another Tang Clan baby on it's way!  More babies to play with!  My cousin Vivian is expecting this October!!!  This is so cool!  Lots of wittle wones to pway wif.  Heehee.

Tot ziens for now (that's See you later in Dutch),

Wooga

Well, here I am at school enjoying the internet while I can.  I have a two hour break between classes, well this last one fo the day doesn't really count since we don't go to class but we can "consult" with the professor if we need to.  This past weekend I tried my first ever space cake.  Man was that ever an experience!  It was tied in with watching fear and loathing in Las Vegas and drinking some beers down at the exchange pub.  Tons of fun, but I was very sleepy too.  Hahahah Troy has been laughing at me since for basically grinning like an idiot all night!  I have also seen two museums while in Amsterdam so far:  The Rijkmuseum which gives a brief history of Amsterdam and the Dutch as well as the Erotic museum in the Red Light District.  I think the name is pretty self explanatory for the last one.  It was certainly an um...interesting venue???  Hahhaha so very weird things and cartoons.  And everything was on sale in there too!!!  I took a great picture of my friend Bastien and myself posing behind two wooden cutouts as prostitutes.  Mine is quite frightening actually.  I think it's the big hair.

On Saturday after touring the Rijkmuseum (it was only slightly disappointing as there weren't many works by Rembrandt and it was supposed to be a big draw too.), we decided to have another "family meal" hosted by Ryan and Vadim in their apartment on the first floor.  It was awesome having the guys cook for the girls, and in the end we had a guy vs. girl wrestling fight match thingy!!!  I got a nice scrape on my leg and I nailed Vadim with my long fingernails.  It was so fun but so incredibly violent!  Andrea hung onto the door frame for a good while before Troy started tickling her to gain the upper hand.

Sunday, didn't really do much aside from book a couple of trips to Berlin for this weekend (!!! Yes mother that will be a big expense on my Mastercard coming this month, but don't worry people are paying me back and I won't spend that money - yet.) and to London next weekend.  I have been talking to some friends over here and we might stay longer and try to find summer jobs in Europe which I think would be amazing!  I've already been offered an internship with IBM in Brussels, but unfortunatley I can't do it since it's either for this term or for the coming September which I can't do.)

I am so incredibly pumped for my Berlin weekend!!!!!!  We still have to find a place to stay but I'm sure that it won't be hard considering the season.  The flight to London is cheap (we ended up giving up on the trip to the Olympics in Torino since flights to Milan are so expensive.  But wouldn't it have been awesome nonetheless to see a hockey game between Canada and Switzerland?  They wouldn't have a chance, but still!!!!) at 21 euros per person and 24 euros for two nights plus breakfast at the hostel in South Kensington.

In other news, my sister had her apartment broken into this past Friday in the middle of the day (freaky!) and had a whole bunch of CDs and her digital camera stolen.    I feel bad since it must have been really traumatic plus with the other cmmotion of the goings on in her building.  She felt pretty shaky about going out today to our cousin Anita's place for Ayesha's 1st birthday.  Man, I wish I was there with all the cousins and the babies and my seeta!!!!  They're are so cute and so much fun!

Okay, well I think that I've made this entry long enough. If you want a synopsis of the characters because you are getting confused, I will try my best to remember and put one up in the next entry, capice?  (oo there goes the Italian....can't wait for Spring break when we might go to Greece and Italy!)

I miss everyone so much and I hope to get that camera problem fixed soon!  Yes it's still not working, but hopefully I'll be able to add a whole lot more photos and videos of Amsterdam and Berlin.

Ciao bellas!
I amsterdam
